Bah Humbug

So, if you saw the SuperBowl last night you also saw how the whole thing was lackluster: the National Anthem: lackluster. The Half-time show: uberlackluster. Oh, let us not forget the game itself!

I had a better time scrubbing my toilet this morning and washing the carpets than I did not watching the game. I did howeverf enjoy the pre-Game show, mainly the 'Charles and Shaq Show': funny.

Maybe I am being too cynical. After all, nothing will ever compare to watching the game last year down in the Quarter and then rushing the streets with 20000 screaming fans chanting 'who dat' down Bourbon 'til two in the morning. No, nothing compares to that. Even when I got smacked dead in the face with a handful of beads being pitched from the balconies, I still say that one moment topped any last night.

I know no one person can be blamed; and even so, how could I blame them? How would they know CA would forget the words to the National Anthem? I mean skip entire passages completely and rearrange others! How would they know TBEP (Fergie exclusively) is a horrible live performer? Personally the best two parts of the halftime fiasco were when it began (it looked promising) and the background light up dancers (they held my attention and made me forget about the torment I was experriencing). Oh, and the stage when it spelled L-O-V-E. I could barely hear and then they were "talking" without the semblance of trying to sound like "not talking". Oh, and I was excited for Usher until I heard Usher. And then I became re-disappointed and just disgusted.

On a brighter side, Lea Michelle's 'America the Beautiful' was very nice. She never tries too hard and always delivers. I wonder if the top gun had wished he'd swapped her out for CA. surely LM would remember the lyrics to our country's themesong? But whatever....

The commercials were okay, of the ones I saw that is. I spent most of the night reading a novel. I did however love the Groupon commercials! I hear they had some pretty heavy backlash from the commercials. Sure they were a little dark and there was that element of human exploitation, but they were FUNNY! I would so rather laugh than feel ashamed for being born an American, ya know. I really only partially watched because I wanted to see the commercials and to catch 'Glee' as it came on afterwards.

Hopefully next year will be better....
