Who knew....?
But that's not what I wanted to say. Since I have such grand internet service now (thank you t-mobile hotspots and android) I was surfing all my old hangout spots.
and guess what? who knew blackplanet.com was still active?
I know I didn't. The last time I was on that site laptops costs $2,000 and Claritin was by prescription only. So you know that was a while ago!
no, but seriously, I never would have guessed it was still up. what with myspace, facebook, linkedin, twitter, foursquare, and etc...
But then, I guess I am kinda glad that it is still up. its nice to still have the option to go on blackplanet and talk about things that affect us as black people right? I mean, where else can one vent about how all the little ethnic children in commercials hair be nappy?
oh that's right....there is a group on facebook for that very same thing.
Hmph, well. I tried. I just thought I would let everyone know that blackplanet is still there. Maybe we should boycott facebook. They have too many changes, but that is another blog. I bet blackplanet hasnt changed.....

Funny....
I'm watching House of Payne right now; the episode where Jazzy runs away because she is being ignored since she is no longer the baby. And it made me realize the difference of today's youth from past generations.
It also made me remember the story my mom told us of the time she ran away.
At the time she was about four, maybe five, and she had gotten upset with Nana, her mom, my grandmom and defiantly announced that she was running away. So, like every good parent, my grandmother bid her adieu with her blessings, a sandwhich, and a reminder that she was not allowed to cross the street.
And you know what? Mom sat right there on the curb in front of her house and ate her sanwhich as she 'ran away' and when it became the regular time to come inside after dark... she did.
And she never ran away again.
There is really no point to this story... I just thought it was a little funny.
For Colored Girls
Im watching FCG and its the last few minutes. It's really good- except, what's with all the poetry?! At some points I could barely decipher the meaning for all the prose.
I really am not into all the verbage taking place in this movie. I'm an American. I like my movies to think and reflect for me, please do not make me do it myself; I may get it wrong.
The movie has concluded now. Once again I missed the meaning because I was confused by words of it all. But, that just gives me an excuse to watch it all over again!

Bah Humbug
So, if you saw the SuperBowl last night you also saw how the whole thing was lackluster: the National Anthem: lackluster. The Half-time show: uberlackluster. Oh, let us not forget the game itself!
I had a better time scrubbing my toilet this morning and washing the carpets than I did not watching the game. I did howeverf enjoy the pre-Game show, mainly the 'Charles and Shaq Show': funny.
Maybe I am being too cynical. After all, nothing will ever compare to watching the game last year down in the Quarter and then rushing the streets with 20000 screaming fans chanting 'who dat' down Bourbon 'til two in the morning. No, nothing compares to that. Even when I got smacked dead in the face with a handful of beads being pitched from the balconies, I still say that one moment topped any last night.
I know no one person can be blamed; and even so, how could I blame them? How would they know CA would forget the words to the National Anthem? I mean skip entire passages completely and rearrange others! How would they know TBEP (Fergie exclusively) is a horrible live performer? Personally the best two parts of the halftime fiasco were when it began (it looked promising) and the background light up dancers (they held my attention and made me forget about the torment I was experriencing). Oh, and the stage when it spelled L-O-V-E. I could barely hear and then they were "talking" without the semblance of trying to sound like "not talking". Oh, and I was excited for Usher until I heard Usher. And then I became re-disappointed and just disgusted.
On a brighter side, Lea Michelle's 'America the Beautiful' was very nice. She never tries too hard and always delivers. I wonder if the top gun had wished he'd swapped her out for CA. surely LM would remember the lyrics to our country's themesong? But whatever....
The commercials were okay, of the ones I saw that is. I spent most of the night reading a novel. I did however love the Groupon commercials! I hear they had some pretty heavy backlash from the commercials. Sure they were a little dark and there was that element of human exploitation, but they were FUNNY! I would so rather laugh than feel ashamed for being born an American, ya know. I really only partially watched because I wanted to see the commercials and to catch 'Glee' as it came on afterwards.
Hopefully next year will be better....

slow suffering
I need a guide; need you by my side. Just need you; to hold me, love me, rub me. To say and do the things you say you do so well; kiss my lips, grab my hips; and then it slips. Into the softness that you know so well; so well...
Oh, well

- Tisha Campbell was only 18 and got the lead role. She suffered alot of "hate" because she was the youngest cast member and also the lead.
- None of the darker skinned brothers (i.e. Kadeem Hardison) were required to audition. In contrast, all the light skinned brothers (i.e. Bill Morrison) did have to audition.
- In an effort to create a true stigma of "light skinned is better than dark" amongst the female cast, Spike put all the fair skinned ladies in more accomodating suites and placed the brown skinned babes in "shabby accomodations".
- The very first time that Tisha was ever called the "N-word" was during the filming of the movie, which was shot in Atlanta, GA, originally on Morehouse College's campus and finished on Brown's campus.
- The officials at Morehouse College were enraged at the use of the N-word, and other language and the portrayal of blacks, so they kicked them off campus and the party moved to Brown.
- Morris Chestnut's room in the end is not the same room as it was in the beggining because of this.
- The fight during the step show in the movie was an actual fight. It started because Tisha had her hair pulled and one of the other cast members, I forgot his name, who was a Gamma say it and got mad and started to run on stage and that's how the fight began.
- Alot of the screen shots were exxagerated to enusre that the idealisms would reach the viewers.
- Um, what else?

It Was So Good...
Since we were together.
Like this,
Is how it should always be.
I love the way you hold me,
Control me.
Consume me,
Abuse me.
Your body is like my temple,
On which I pray.
Never shall I wish your love away.
For as long as I live
I shall remember this day.
It was so good...

*Scream*
I just...
I just want...
I just want to...
I just want to SCREAM!
Because I...
Because I freagin overslept
and
couldn't print on my stupid computer
and
because my darn battery died
and
because...
MPRE!
So, it's 7 o'clock and I remember that I forgot to print out my ticket so I go to do that, only to find out that my stoopid printer will not work if only one cartridge is in, and I only have one cartridge in. *scream*
Now its 8 o'clock and I am in the car. I turn the key and..... Click, click, click. My milfin battery is dead! *scream*
It's now 8:45, the test is at 9 and I have just found out (the hard way) that Ofiice Depot, KinkosFed Ex and my school library do not open until 9. Who the f* is closed on Saturday at 8? Do ppl not need ish printed at 8 in the morning?!
Well, to make this story even shorter, it's now 8:50 and I am passing up the Dalrymple exit (the LSU exit where the test is being proctered) and I just decide to keep driving because I figure the test is about to begin and I have no ticket and no idea where Himes Hall is located.
Yep, that's how it went. Oh, and let me tell ya the BEST part..... I could have gotten the procters to print my ticket out for me the entire time! I love it! I love it...
